The Sett | Our Environmental Promise
Working with ecologists to find a way of reducing the impact of the development on its environment and its ecological quality.
There are 3 badger setts located in the adjoining field and throughout construction we have ensured that we have kept a safe distance, minimised loud works immediately prior to sunset and ensured when any excavations have been undertaken, ramps have been put in so should any badgers venture down into the trenches they have means of escape.
A hibernaculum will be created within the site. A hibernaculum is a generic term describing a specifically designed place to provide refuge for local fauna, mainly in this instance amphibians.
Potential bat roosts were featured on the site and as such we will be installing a range of integrated bat boxes within the walls of the new buildings and hung in trees to offer roosting opportunities.
All external lighting is to be designed to have minimal impact on the bats and their commuting and foraging areas. A number of woodcrete boxes will be hung around the site to provide an enhancement for birds.
