The land totals approximately 0.62 acres and is surrounded on three sides by the river Tone, which ripples gently creating a calm and peaceful piece of heaven. The river winds around a beach, little islands and eventually spills under the double arch road bridge. Access to the river is via 2 sets of steps making this a perfect place to paddle, dip, skim stones and catch fish and the banks have been bolstered with willow and alder trees.
The current owners have transformed this previous bramble wilderness into a meadow of wild flowers, perennial gardens, a bluebell grove and hundreds of bulbs of wild garlic, daffodils and snowdrops.. They have planted a variety of native trees, such as weeping willow, weeping beech, silver birch, rowan, field maple, pear and elderflowers amongst mature exotic trees such as Indian bean, Himalayan birch, sweet gum, cherrycot, cherry, quince, genco and golden rain tree. Many birds, damselflies and butterflies have made their habitat here.
A small copse leads to a section of ground devoted to wild flowers and a beach area. Wellisford is wonderfully free from light pollution making star gazing an easy activity.
